Jose Mourinho says he was luckiest premier League boss against Bournem

Image
Manchester United produced another comeback akin to the days of old with Marcus Rashford downing Bournemouth late on. The Red Devils started slowly - appallingly, to be honest - with Callum Wilson giving the Cherries an early lead. Manchester United have regained some of their usual swagger in recent times, though, with Rashford's goal coming after Anthony Martial's leveller. And Mourinho has admitted he was fortunate, dubbing himself 'the luckiest manager in the Premier League' in the process. It was the whole first half," he said. "I said at half-time I was the luckiest manager in the Premier League in a half when it should be like 5/6-2. "We were defensively awful. As a team we didn't press or do any of the week we did in the week. "People watching this game will not believe how hard we worked this week. "The first half was a disaster. The second half was much better. "We created lots of chances and deserved t...

Bournemouth 1 Manchester United 2: Supersub Marcus Rashford downs Cherries in injury time

Image
Anthony Martial's fourth goal in as many Premier League games looked to be good enough for a draw after Callum Wilson's opener, before Rashford nicked all three in the final moments. Romelu Lukaku was absent from the match day squad after picking up an injury in training on Friday, with Alexis Sanchez chosen to lead the Manchester United line and Marcus Rashford left on the bench. Bournemouth switched to a back four, pushing David Brooks in a number 10 role behind Wilson and Junior Stanislas. That trio were threatening from the off, but it was Ryan Fraser who should have opened the scoring after an error from Chris Smalling, but a poor touch took him wide, allowing David De Gea to block. Wilson and Stanislas then missed further chances before the hosts took a deserved lead just 11 minutes in. United were too keen to push out after a corner, leaving Lewis Cook in acres of space down the right to cross for Wilson, who easily tucked away his sixth league g...

FUMING MANCHESTER UNITED FANS TEAR INTO TEAM AFTER DISMAL START V BOURNEMOUTH

Image
Manchester United fans are not happy after a poor opening to their game against Bournemouth. In a shambolic start, United saw their defence torn to shreds by an exciting and vibrant Bournemouth side who are playing some excellent football at this moment in time. The attacking players, without Romelu Lukaku, failed to link up with Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial failing to got hold of the ball and show their attacking flair. However, for the United fans, it was Jose Mourinho and the weak back line who took the brunt of the abuse on social media. The opening Bournemouth goal came from a corner as Junior Stanislas was left in acres of space on the right-hand side. He squared the ball to Callum Wilson who finished with aplomb and has now scored more goals that Harry Kane and Mo Salah this season. John Gorman on Twitter said: “Smalling again. Biggest liability we have. We seriously need to get him out of the team. Bang average at best.” Ryan on Twitter: “We have an unparallele...

Manchester United's Jose Mourinho: I hope Anthony Martial gets extension

Image
Jose Mourinho is keen to make sure Anthony Martial develops into a "top player" at Manchester United and not somewhere else. The Frenchman is in talks with United about extending his current deal that is due to expire in 2020 if the club trigger their one-year extension. After a run of four goals in his last four games, Mourinho believes the 22-year-old is on the verge of becoming one of the best players in the world and the Portuguese coach wants to ensure United get the benefit of his peak years. "I hope they will agree," Mourinho told a news conference on Friday. "Obviously I hope. One thing is that he's a talented player that everybody knows he is. Everybody knows since he was in Monaco that he is a talented player. "Another thing is a talented player with consistency and understanding what a football match is in the globality. "When you reach that level, or when you are almost reaching that level, that is when you become a top player...

Tahith Chong offers Jose Mourinho a solution to key Manchester United problem

Image
It was alarming, watching Manchester United's win against Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday, to see just how much of the Reds' attacking play goes down the left-hand side. Anthony Martial might be enjoying something close to the form of his life at present but it is tempting to contemplate quite how United would fare if there were a greater balance between the flanks of Jose Mourinho's forward line. The United manager seems to have tried every option at his disposal in a bid to find a veritable right-wing solution this season, but to little success. Marcus Rashford has looked uncomfortable on the right flank, while both Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata have been far more effective operating in a central position despite Mourinho's attempts to shoe-horn them into his problem position. Alexis Sanchez has struggled to fit the bill on either flank and might fancy his chances through the middle with Romelu Lukaku out of favour but, for Mourinho, t...
